Volunteer Opportunities

Project Learn Tutor, Education Center

Commitment: One hour, weekly

Description: Tutor a child one-on-one for one hour each week. Work with children ages 7-12 on homework assignments, reading and play educational games.

Zoom Leader, Education Center

Commitment: One hour, one time visit, M-F

Description: Watch Zoom episodes with kids and lead experiments. Adult volunteer will have help from PULSE college student volunteers. Resources needed should be able to be found in the kitchen or art room. Suggestion: Contact WGBH/Boston to see if we can have more recent Zoom videos.

Club Newspaper Chief, Technology Lab

Commitment: One hour, weekly

Description: Teach the fundamentals of writing a newspaper to our young club members. Conduct simple tasks such as providing our children and teens with the details of a news story and assigning each member the task of writing the news article. Peer Leaders will help the younger kids with editing. Teach skills such as interviewing, fact checking, editing and attributing sources.

Math Mentors, Education Center and Teen Center

Commitment: One hour, one time visit, M-F

Description: Play Math Educational games with children ages 7-12. Assign each group a different game, and set a rotation so each group gets to play each game. Devise a points system if possible so that groups can compete against each other.

Music Mentors, Music Clubhouse

Commitment: One hour, weekly

Description: Have a one-on-one music session with a child or teen who is enrolled in music lessons in our Music Clubhouse. We are seeking anyone who is familiar with the guitar, piano, violin, recorder, singing or any one who appreciates music to become a Music Mentor

Art Assistants, Art Room

Commitment: One hour class, weekly

Description: Assist our Art Instructors with lessons. Classes are small and hands-on, Art Assistants will work with children one-on-one or in small groups with their projects. Winter session offers classes in ceramics, print-making, building and painting.

Turistas! Teen Center

Commitment: One hour, one time

Description: Share your travel experiences with our teens. Bring in anything from photos to indigenous food and teach them anything from linguistics to dance to cultural differences.

Molding Educators through Mentorship Opportunities (M.E.M.O)

Commitment: One hour, one time

Description: Teach our teens about your career here at the Club or by inviting them to job shadow at your place of work. You can educate and inspire teens about your professional life and connect with them on a personal level during this one hour session.

Teach Your Passion Experience (TYPE)

Commitment: One hour, one time or four week series of one hour per week classes

Description: Aimed at children or teens, volunteers are welcome to share his or her own idea of a new class for our members. Past examples include Karate and Pilates but can include cooking, arts and crafts, mathematical or computer skills and more! Plan a four week program or come in once to teach a group of our members your own passion!
