Visual & Performing Arts

Art education is a crucial part of our youth development work as it provides children with a comprehensive knowledge of themselves, enhances appreciation of their connection to others, and creates a more vivid picture of the world. Classes in painting, music, photography, knitting & fabric arts, dance, drawing, sculpture, and drama engage children and teens as they grow through the creative experience.

Visual Arts

Members learn the fundamentals of design, color and technique in a variety of mediums. Classes are offered to all ages and skill levels and include Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Printmaking, Pottery, Silk Screening, Photography, Ceramics, and Museum Trips. Through our partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, members can participate in the MFA's Community Arts Initiative, which allows the Museum to serve as an art and cultural resource within our immediate neighborhood and surrounding communities.

The Music Clubhouse

Using new instruments and cutting edge digital equipment, members learn to sing, play guitar, drums, bass violin & recorder, compose original songs and even mix digital tracts. Individual and small group lessons are available. A unique opportunity to build self-confidence, the Music Clubhouse teaches youth ages 10 to 18 to play, perform, compose and record music. In addition to fostering a life-long appreciation for music and creative expression, the program helps make after school time a postive experience by nurturing the development of critical interpersonal skills. Check out our Music Clubhouse web site!

Performing Arts Classes

Classes include: Hip Hop, Latin Dance, Creative Movement and Caopeira. Our theater classes offer the opportunity to act, direct, perform, design sets & lighting and experience all the benefits the performing arts have to offer. The West End House formed a partnership with the Boston Children's Chorus and as result of this, the Club hosts a neighborhood chorus which meets here in our Performing Arts Studio for weekly practices. The Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) is a multi-racial, multi-cultural arts education organization that uses music as a powerful tool for social change by purposefully uniting a diverse group of children to sing, perform and serve as ambassadors of harmony for the city of Boston at local events as well as on tour nationally and internationally.
